We had a wasps nest at our first house in Naples (that's FL, not IT). We pondered calling pros to remove it, or just ignoring it and hoping they went away. But one day I just went out there, spur of the moment and threw a windsurfing mast (the proverbial ten foot pole) at the nest and ran like hell around the side of the house and into the door. They were everywhere!! I stayed inside the rest of the day, I was too scared to open the door!! But they left their empty, fallen nest behind and went somewhere else. It took a week for me to find my one shoe that flew off as I fled; it ended up on the other side of the fence. I'd wear lace-ups, if I were you.

They haven't bothered me. And I think they'll disperse once it gets cold (if it ever gets cold).

They still think they're the elite and take everything they can.
